First Half Of The 17th Century
With broad double-edged blade (tip missing) cut with three shallow fullers on each side of the forte, one side struck with three twig marks, hilt comprising downcurved quillons of tapering circular section with cross-hatched ends, a brass plate punched with circles over the quillon-block, inner iron thumb-ring, characteristic brass octagonal pommel cast with a foliate boss on each side, and brass-wrapped grip of slightly swelling ovoidal section chase with a symmetrical design of foliage between decorative borders on the outside (iron parts with some pitting)

Swords of this type were used by the Slavic mercenaries of the Venetians (the predominantly Hungarian Schiavoni of Dalmatia) against Ottoman incursions throughout the 16th and 17th centuries.
