A Duelling Rapier
Mid-17th Century, Probably English Or Dutch

With long slender tapering blade of diamond section widening into a leaf-shaped point, blackened iron hilt comprising cup-guard of slender bars forming petals each filled with a plate with numerous quartrefoil-shaped piercings, linked by slender bars to the base of the arms, slender scrolled quillons (one missing), fluted quillon-block, globular pommel chiselled with scrolls and with button finial, and spirally twist grip bound with twisted iron wire (rust patinated overall)
