An Unusual Left-Hand Dagger
16th/17th Century

With Spanish or Italian tapering blade double-edged over half its length and cusped along the back, broad ricasso hollowed for the thumb on one side and pierced with two holes for blade-breaking, hilt comprising downbent quillons with flattened button terminals, side-ring of swelling circular section, compressed pommel with button finial, and writhen wooden grip finely bound with twisted iron wire (some light pitting overall)
