A Russian Dragoon Officer's 1881/1909 Pattern Shashka
Reign Of Tsar Nicholas II (1894-1917)

With curved fullered German blade double-edged at the point and finely etched with a design of watering overall, the back etched with maker's details 'E. & F. Hörster-Solingen', the forte on both sides etched and gilt with crowned cypher of Nicholas II within a panel of foliage and strapwork against a blued ground, regulation brass hilt similar to the last, and sword-knot with St. George's strap, in original nickel-plated scabbard with two rings for suspension (minor loss of nickeling)
