A Mameluke-Hilted Sabre Of 1822 Pattern Lancer Officer's Type
Circa 1830

With curved finely watered single-edged blade, hilt comprising gilt-copper quillons with button terminals and cast on each side with a design of arabesques centred on lines against a punched ground, ivory-grip scales (splits and minor chip) secured by two transverse pins with gilt foliate head on each side (one missing), gilt grip-strap, and pommel with gilt-mounted piercing for a sword-knot, in original wood-lined black leather scabbard with gilt-copper locket, chape and suspension mounts, the deep chape with designs of foliage against a punched ground on both sides, the suspension mounts en suite with the quillons and each with a ring for suspension
