A German Or Swiss Halberd
Mid-Late 16th Century

With spike of stiff diamond section flattened at the base, axe-blade with oblique cutting-blade and pierced with a quatrefoil, beak-shaped fluke deeply struck with three cog-like marks on one side, two similar marks on the other side and with a small shaped projection below, open socket with two long side-straps, and two shorter side-straps made separately, on original wooden staff of square section cut with lines along the angles (some pitting overall)
