The Hilt Late 16th Century, The Remainder 18th/19th Century
With slightly hollowed single-edged blade (probably shortened), rounded gilt-copper basal mount, and tapering light green jade hilt of oval section flat along the back and finely inlaid in gold with scrolling interlaced arabesques, the slightly beaked pommel with replacement silver-gilt inlays including chequered panels (probably replacing gems, finial missing), in its wooden scabbard covered in green-stained leather with deep border engraved silver-gilt locket and chape each stamped with indistinct tughra, the former (slightly split along one side) with integral suspension loop, the latter with foliate terminal
