With tapering double-edged blade of flattened ovoidal section with central fuller on each side of the forte and rectangular ricasso, the former each stamped with sacred monogram 'IHS' between star marks, the latter struck with a bladesmith's mark, a cross, and with incised line borders on both sides, bright iron hilt (some light pitting) of slender rounded bars comprising diagonally recurved quillons with swelling tips, diagonal bifurcated side-guard on the outside linking the knuckle-guard and forward arm, the former with swelling terminal, the spaces between filled by two horizontally curved bars with swelling tips, lower side-ring linking the tips of the arms, and inner guard of slender bars extending from the arms and joined to a diagonal bar above, large ovoidal pommel with later button, and later grip bound with twisted iron wire
