A Fine Saxon Left-Hand Dagger
Circa 1610

With bright tapering double-edged blade of slightly hollowed flattened diamond section, rectangular ricasso with broad flute on each side, blued iron hilt comprising strongly arched flat quillons with spatulate 'fish-tail' ends each with central flute between incised lines, large side-ring filled with a plate pierced with linked circles, compressed pommel of octagonal section with button finial, wooden grip bound with fine steel wire, and retaining much of its original blued finish
