A Rare German Dagger
Third Quarter Of The 16th Century, Probably Nuremberg

With tapering blade of flattened diamond section (extreme tip missing), rectangular ricasso etched with scrollwork against a blackened ground along each edge, iron hilt comprising short diamond-shaped quillons widening towards the small button terminals, rectangular quillon-block, faceted plummet-shaped pommel, and swelling grip of ovoidal section, etched overall against a blackened ground with interlaced designs of symmetrical strapwork and fine scrollwork (some wear and rust patination)
