A German Or Italian Left-Hand Dagger
Late 16th/Early 17th Century

With tapering blade of diamond section with reinforced point and deeply cut central fuller between incised lines for most of its length on each side pierced with a series of minute circular holes, rectangular ricasso en suite and flattened for the thumb on one side, iron hilt comprising arched quillons of flattened oval section cut with fluting on the outside and with scallop shell terminals, side-ring cut with flutes between lines, vertically fluted barrel-shaped pommel with button, and grip bound with plain and twisted iron wire between brass Turk's heads (some pitting overall)
