With sharply tapering 18th century blade of hollow triangular section inlaid with a design of serrated brass foliage on one side at the forte, characteristic hilt cast and chased with mounted horsemen between masks and foliage, all against gilt punched grounds, rear quillon with monster-head terminal in the round, and swelling grip bound with interwoven silver ribbon and wire, in its 18th century tooled black leather scabbard (worn, tip missing) with silver locket and chape chased with rocailles and foliage, the former with indistinct pricked Hay Market maker's name, and with two rings for suspension
