An English Silver-Hilted Small-Sword
Early 18th Century, Indistinct Silver Maker's Mark

With colichemarde blade (some wear and areas of pitting) of sharply tapering hollow triangular section etched with bold designs of symmetrical foliated strapwork against hatched grounds on both sides of the forte, characteristic hilt cast and chased with feathered designs within reeded foliate borders centred on ovals on the double shell-guard, the decoration outlined with engraved foliage and punched lines of minute circles, arms, rear quillon, knuckle-guard and globular pommel all en suite, and swelling grip bound with twisted silver wire
