With bright sharply tapering blade of hollow triangular section etched with foliate scrollwork and rocailles along both sides of the forte, bright hilt comprising slightly concave oval shell-guard with cusped border, oval inner gilt-metal plate pierced and chased with foliage, arms, comma-shaped rear quillon, knuckle-guard with central diamond-shaped facet, faceted ovoidal pommel with button, and grip bound with twisted and plaited wire, and ribbon respectively crimped and painted pink, in original vellum-covered scabbard with iron locket, chape and suspension mount, the first signed on one side, and with two rings for suspension

Dru Drury II (1724/5-1804) is listed as a leading retail goldsmith, knife-handle maker, cutler, inventor, and as a noted entomologist. In 1777 he was declared bankrupt and amongst his many debts was one to Nathaniel Jeffreys of Clapham who was owed £3,202.0.0.
