An English Silver-Mounted Hanger
Circa 1700, Silver Maker's Mark IR

With curved single-edged blade double-edged at the point, with running wolf mark on one side, and retaining its blued, incised, stamped and gilt decoration over nearly half its length on each side, flattened swelling agate grip with deep foliate engraved silver collar and cast and chased silver quillons with hound's head terminals, in leather-covered scabbard with chased silver locket and brass chape (some engraving of later date)
