A Rare Pair Of 20-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Turn-Off Pistols
By W. Mawde, Offley, Circa 1720

With two-stage cannon barrels each with pronounced turned swelling at the muzzle, breeches each engraved with a band of foliage at the rear in front of a moulded step, foliate engraved tangs each extending as a trefoil over the breech and secured by a screw, signed border engraved rounded actions, border engraved cocks and steels, trigger-guards each with foliate finial and engraved on the bow, swelling moulded figured butts each carved with foliage behind the tang, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced foliate side-plates, foliate escutcheons engraved with owner's crest, and grotesque mask butt-caps (some minor rust patination), London proof marks and maker's marks (2)
