With three-stage cannon barrel, foliate engraved breech signed beneath the steel-spring and inscribed 'London' along the top, waisted foliate engraved tang, border engraved action, sliding trigger-guard safety-catch engraved with a flower-head on the bow, swelling figured butt carved with a shell in relief behind the barrel tang, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced foliate side-plate involving a rococo cartouche and profile grotesque mask, vacant escutcheon with scroll border, a grotesque mask above and a scallop shell below, and grotesques mask butt-cap (iron parts with some wear and rust patination), London proof marks and maker's mark, silver maker's mark JA, probably of Jeconiah Ashley
