A 16-Bore Flintlock Carriage Pistol
By John Prosser, Charing Cross, London, No. 75, Dated 1803

With octagonal sighted barrel retaining some original browning beneath and engraved 'Charing Cross, London' along the top flat, silver fore-sight and gold line at the breech, gold-lined touch-hole, border engraved tang decorated with a Britannia shield and foliage and incorporating a back-sight, signed border engraved flat bevelled lock decorated with a starburst behind the semi-rainproof pan and with foliage on the stepped tail, engraved cock (repaired), safety-catch and roller, figured full stock with chequered 'Catalan'-style butt (minor chip on one side), border engraved steel mounts comprising shaped heel-plate engraved 'Prosser 1803', trigger-guard with pineapple finial and engraved with a Britannia shield and foliage on the bow, vacant shield-shaped silver escutcheon, and original horn-tipped ramrod (barrel and mounts with some pitting in places), Tower private proof marks
