A Fine Pair Of 25-Bore Percussion Duelling Pistols
By John Manton, London, No. 4046 For 1803

Converted from flintlock by the maker, with browned twist octagonal sighted scratch rifled barrels (some surface rust) each with silver fore-sight and signed in gold along the top flat at the breech, breeches each with back-sight between gold lines and with platinum plug, case-hardened border engraved tangs each finely decorated with a starburst, a martial trophy and foliage, case-hardened serial numbered signed border engraved detented locks each decorated with martial trophies and fitted with a bright safety-catch, dolphin hammers decorated en suite with the locks, figured half-stocks serial numbered on the inside and each with chequered rounded butt, blued trigger-guards each serial numbered in an oval against a martial trophy on the bow, trigger-plates each with pineapple finial, silver escutcheons each engraved with owner's crest, horn fore-end caps, original horn-tipped ramrods, and much original finish (2)
