An Unusual Cased Adam's Patent .442 Five-Shot Self-Cocking Centre-Fire Revolver
By Deane , Adams And Deane, 30 King William St.t., London Bridge, Circa 1855

Converted from a 54-bore percussion revolver, with blued octagonal sighted barrel signed in full and extending along the top flat, blued cylinder, border engraved frame, trigger-guard and ovoidal butt-cap, the frame engraved with Adams Patent serial number on one side, and 'E.& E. Emanuel, Agent, 101 High St., Portsmouth' (possibly the converter), bright hinged loading-gate acting against a spring, sprung cartridge extracting-rod, spring safety-stop and hammer, chequered figured rounded butt, and much original blueing from the time of conversion (some wear and areas of pitting): in original relined oak case (compartments detached) with accessories including two empty ammunition tins for '50 Eley's Patent Central-Fire Boxer Cartridges For Revolvers .442', the interior of the lid retaining its original yellow maker's trade label (damaged), the exterior (minor split) with vacant circular brass escutcheon, Birmingham proof marks
