A Brass-Barrelled Flintlock Blunderbuss
By Archer, Probably Thomas Of Birmingham, Circa 1780

With two-stage barrel turned and belled at the muzzle and fitted with spring bayonet above, the breech engraved with foliage, border engraved tang, signed border engraved rounded lock with a shell and foliage on the tail, figured full-stock, border engraved brass mounts decorated en suite with the lock and comprising shaped flat bevelled side-plate, vacant escutcheon, butt-plate with acorn-shaped finial, trigger-guard with a flower-head on the bow, turned ramrod-pipes (rear one split), and original wooden ramrod (steel parts with some pitting), Tower private proof marks
