With bright 18th century blade double-edged towards the point, the forte etched and gilt on one side with a panel of strapwork framing an oval containing a boar pursued by a hound amid rocailles and foliage, a foliate motif beyond, the other side en suite and with a stag pursued by a hound, the back of the blade with an etched and gilt arrow, hilt comprising straight quillons of oval section bound with a garland and centred on a lion's head against a punched gilt ground in a circle on each side, pommel-cap encircled by a wreath and chased with designs of foliage against punched gilt grounds, and vertically fluted ivory grip of oval section, in original wooden scabbard covered in brown leather with silver locket and chape en suite with the hilt, the former with pocket for the by-knife also en suite, and chased with a boar beset by hounds in an oval on the opposite side, and with foliate frog-button
