A 15-Bore Percussion Sporting Rifle
Signed J. March, Mid-19th Century

With browned twist octagonal sighted barrel with raised rib and rifled with nine grooves, engraved case-hardened breech with gold lines, foliate scroll engraved case-hardened tang, signed border engraved detented flat lock and dolphin hammer, highly figured half-stock with chequered pistol-grip, foliate scroll engraved steel mounts comprising butt-plate and trigger-guard, trigger-plate with pineapple-shaped finial, vacant white-metal escutcheon, white-metal fore-end cap, original steel-tipped ramrod, and faint traces of original finish, Birmingham proof marks
72.5 cm. barrel
