With earlier tapering rapier blade of flattened hexagonal section with central fuller on each side of the forte stamped with a series of 'X' marks, hilt comprising swelling agate quillons of circular section with steel button terminals, smaller faceted agate pommel en suite, and reeded swelling ebony grip of square section, in original blackened leather scabbard with steel locket and chape, the former with frog-button set with an ovoidal piece of moss agate
