With bright barrel signed in full at the breech and retained by three spring-held barrel bands, the forward one carrying the fore-sight and also forming the ramrod-entry, tang dated 1844, bright flat bevelled lock with hinged tape cover stamped 'Edward Maynard Patentee 1845', and 'Mill Creek Pa. 1848' across the rounded tail, full stock painted '6/35' and stamped with numbered Museum of Artillery mark on one side of the butt, bright steel mounts including characteristic slender side-plate, sling loops, original steel ramrod, and in fine condition under old oil overall
