A Rare Ormolu-Mounted Hanger With Bloodstone Grip
Circa 1740, Probably Russian

With straight tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section stamped '..41' with running wolf mark within the single fuller on each side of the forte, the hilt comprising vertically recurved quillons of octagonal section terminating in volutes chased with scrolls on a punched ground, stepped washer, beaked grip flattened at the sides, shaped collar chased with punched scrollwork, and shaped pommel-cap en suite cast with a scallop shell in relief and with small integral button, in its original scabbard covered in green fish-skin, the mounts en suite with the hilt, the locket with frog-button
