A French 40-Bore Silver-Mounted Rifled Flintlock Turn-Off Pistol

With two-stage cannon barrel (some minor pitting) with moulded silver band around the muzzle and rifled with sixteen grooves, engraved tang, signed border engraved flat bevelled lock decorated with a putto blowing a trumpet, and with a trophy of arms on the stepped tail, cock engraved en suite, moulded figured half-stock carved with foliage in front of the trigger-guard finial and behind the barrel tang, border engraved mounts comprising shaped bevelled side-plate decorated with a trophy, curved butt-cap (perhaps later) engraved with an eagle's head and foliage, and trigger-guard with foliate finial and engraved with a rocaille and foliage on the bow
