A Pair Of French 40-Bore Percussion Target Pistols
Signed Fni. Par Fd. Claudin A Paris, No. 3717, Mid-19th Century

With browned twist octagonal sighted barrels (one with some loss of finish) each rifled with twelve grooves, foliate scroll engraved breeches, tangs each incorporating a back-sight, signed border engraved locks, hammers and mounts, the last comprising shaped pommels each drawn-out to a flat diamond-shaped terminal and pivoting open against a spring to reveal a cavity for caps, spur trigger-guards, and fore-end caps also forming the ramrod-entry, figured half-stocks with fluted butts, original iron ramrods, and retaining some of their dull grey finish (2)
