With twist barrels (now browned) with concave rib inlaid with a gold arrow divided by the silver fore-sight, the muzzles each with four narrow gilt bands, the breech sections with gold-inlaid inscription 'Canon à Ruban / & Damassé' in cursive script, at the rear two small gold-lined marks, each an 'L' in an oval in front of a broad and a narrow gold band, the underside of the breeches stamped 'Lyonnet Blachon' and 'A Ruban Damassé', platinum-lined touch-holes, shaped case-hardened tang engraved with foliated scrollwork and grooved for sighting, case-hardened bevelled locks each signed within a gold oval flanked by laurel branches and engraved on the tail with a differing scene of the chase within a wooded landscape, 'French' cocks (one repaired) each engraved with a winged monster, platinum-lined rainproof pans, shaped steel-springs each with roller, and engraved top jaws and steels, the inner side of each lock stamped with the number '100' and retaining the original burnished finish, the mainsprings with their milled finish, figured walnut half-stock finely carved in relief at the barrel tang with curved flutes and foliage and with a boar's head in relief to the rear of the grip, chequered grip and fore-end, raised cheek-piece, shaped finely engraved cast and chased mounts, the trigger-guard supported at the front by a lion, the bow decorated with rococo ornament and a dog, all on a punched ground, the finial with a goat's head flanked by wings and surmounted by a basket of flowers and fruit, also on a punched ground, the butt-plate with neo-classical ornament also on a punched ground and a stud releasing the hinged sprung cover to the trap for the bright steel bayonet, the rear ramrod-pipe modelled as a ram's head in front of an oval cartouche engraved with a boar beset by hounds, case-hardened triggers and trigger-plate, vacant gold escutcheon, engraved silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, knurled baluster silver ramrod-pipes, silver sling-mounts, and ivory-tipped ramrod, in very fine little-used condition throughout
