An English Silver-Mounted Hunting Hanger
Circa 1720, Indistinct Silver Maker's Mark

With tapering blade (some rust patination) double-edged towards the point and cut with a narrow fuller along the back for most of its length on each side, the forte etched on both sides with a long rectangular panel of symmetrical strapwork and circles against a hatched ground, a running boar beyond on one side, and a stag on the other, foliate engraved hilt comprising lobed rear quillon, knuckle-guard with swelling central feature, the top fitting into a sleeve on the pommel-cap, the latter pierced with foliage and with large button, and agate grip (cracked) of faceted tapering section with deep silver collar with two moulded bands
