A Continental 13-Bore Flintlock Infantry Musket Of French 1777 Model Type
No. 923, Early 19th Century

With plain two-stage barrel retained by three spring-held brass barrel bands, the forward one carrying the fore-sight and also forming the front ramrod-pipe, octagonal breech serial numbered and stamped with various marks, plain tang, flat bevelled lock stamped with a crowned 'Z' below the brass pan and with an indistinct mark on the rounded tail, ring-neck cock, full stock, butt recessed for the cheek and stamped '93' beneath, regulation brass mounts including flat bevelled side-plate, sling loops, steel ramrod, and associated socket bayonet (some rust patination) (2)
