An English Civil War Period Shot-Proof Breast-Plate Of Siege Weight
Mid-17th Century

Of steel, with low medial ridge and short flange at the base, the latter indented at the front, incised on the left side beneath the neck with ownership mark 'WW', the neck and arms with out-turned edges, the borders pierced with small holes for a lining, two staples for shoulder-straps, and with a belt-hook on each side (blackened and rust patinated overall)
