A Silver-Mounted Hunting Sword
Early 18th Century

With tapering single-edged blade of hollowed triangular section double-edged towards the point (extreme tip missing) and cut along the back for most of its length forming a slender ridge, the forte on each side inlaid in brass with a design of flower-heads on serrated stalks, hilt comprising recurved quillons of moulded faceted form with swelling tips, fluted pommel-cap with button, and slightly curved tapering hardwood grip of octagonal section with partly faceted and reeded basal mount
