With associated tapering double-edged blade of hollow diamond section forming a raised ridge along its entire length on each side, steel hilt retaining some of its original bright polish and comprising a slightly upcurved shell-guard of radiating bars, each with raised border and supporting an upturned fan-shaped feature at the front extended at the top to form a knuckle-guard, the latter with ring beneath the pommel and linked to the shell-guard by a curved bar on the outside decorated with close-set mouldings, two side-bars linked to the ring beneath the pommel and fan-shaped feature respectively, fluted lobe-shaped rear quillon, faceted bun-shaped pommel with prominent button, and spirally-grooved fishskin-covered grip bound with copper ribbon between twisted copper wire (some surface rust)
