A Rare Silver-Mounted 'The Bircham Dagger Scissors'
Retailed By Thornhill, London Silver Hallmarks For 1875, Maker's Mark Of Thomas Johnson

With bright tapering blades of diamond section hinged together and acting against a spring mounted between the grips, one blade etched 'The Bircham Dagger Scissors' and stamped 'Thornhill' at the forte, the other with registered kite mark for October 1873 at the forte, hilt cast and chased overall with rocailles and foliage inhabited by birds, comprising flat tapering quillons with small spherical terminals, and waisted rounded grips en suite, in original silver scabbard applied with the name 'Evelyn' along the outside in elaborate foliate silver letters, and with locket and chape en suite with the hilt, the former with silver suspension ring
