An American Halberd
Early 18th Century

With double-edged leaf-shaped spike of slightly hollowed flattened diamond section with pairs of decorative piercings, threaded integral neck of octagonal section with central moulding, flat crescentic axe-blade and swelling beak-shaped fluke each with scrolled and heart-shaped piercings, tapering socket of circular section with ring mouldings, and long side-straps, on wooden staff of circular section (some rust patination overall)
