A Pair Of Turkish 28-Bore Silver-Gilt Mounted Flintlock Holster Pistols
Early 19th Century

With finely damascus twist russet barrels each cut with three slender lines over most of their length along the top and encrusted with a gold line and gold foliage at the muzzle and breech, the decoration at the breech framing gold-lined maker's mark in Arabic calligraphy, gold-encrusted tangs, engraved flat bevelled English locks each inscribed 'London' and with engraved safety-catch, semi-rainproof pan and roller, figured full stocks inlaid overall with silver wire and engraved silver foliage (minor losses), butts with rounded pommels en suite, chequered fore-ends and butts each set with a small silver star and crescent, mounts retaining some gilding and comprising engraved side-nail plates, star-shaped pommel-caps each cast and chased with a martial trophy, trigger-guards each with finial and bow en suite, long slender fore-end plates each with engraved foliate finial at both ends (finials missing on one plate), and no provision for a ramrod (2)
