Formed from a curved tapering circular section of horn, probably rhinoceros, the nozzle carved in the round as a monster's head, its trunk-like mouth retaining traces of original red pigment and pierced to form a nozzle at its mouth, the body carved in low relief with foliage, a temple, entwined serpents, two scorpions and a tortoise, wooden base-plug, and leather thong for suspension (detached)
