With slightly recurved single-edged blade (some pitting) with traces of a foliate panel on one side towards the forte enclosing Arabic calligraphy, probably the owner's and maker's names, and struck with circular bladesmith's mark, a shaped silver-gilt filigree mount extending over the forte and set with small fluted red corals on each side, hilt (some damage) with silver grip-strap en suite, and characteristic 'eared' ivory grip-scales (old splits), in original wooden scabbard covered in black leather with deep silver-gilt (gilding worn) locket and chape (terminal missing) each chased with a latticed design involving flower-heads against a punched ground, the locket with suspension loop on each side carrying a silver chain with egg-shaped silver-gilt pendant chased with scrolling foliage
