An Indian (Coorg) Ayda Katti, And An Indian Khanda Blade
Both 19th Century

The first of characteristic form, with broad curved single-edged beak-shaped blade (some rust patination) struck with a circular maker's mark on one side at the forte, waisted stepped rectangular top mount incised with lines of small triangles, hilt of coconut comprising flat ovoidal pommel, and grip bound with gold ribbon and wire; the second of broad single-edged form (minor surface rust) double-edged towards the rounded point and reinforced with gold-damascened cusped plates extending from the forte along each side, one side extending over half its length, the forte damascened with gold foliage on both side, and now with wooden handle secured by a steel ferrule (2)
