With three-stage barrels each with a slender ring at the muzzle and decorated with gilt panels of engraved and punched foliage, octagonal breeches becoming polygonal and tangs en suite, rounded locks with gilt pans and decorated with punched and damascened silver foliage, rounded cocks, the head of each retaining screw chiselled as a cherub-mask and with traces of gilding, fruitwood full stocks each profusely inlaid overall with horn scrolls and pellets inhabited by engraved foxes, hares, a bird opposite each lock and grotesques including two bagpipe players and a drummer, and enriched with mother-of-pearl birds, ball-flowers, acorns and pellets including a hound and a monster on either side of the barrel tang, all within horn lines, gilt-iron mounts comprising spurred pommels engraved and punched with a border of foliage, trigger-guards each with shaped finial and fluted bow, single baluster ramrod-pipes, horn rear ramrod-pipe and fore-end caps each engraved with scrollwork against a hatched ground, original ramrods with horn tips en suite, and in unusually fine condition (some wear to gilding) (2)
