A German Circular Powder-Flask
17th Century

Of similar form to the last, inlaid around each side with six staghorn roundels containing further smaller roundels and engraved flower-heads each centred on a dark horn dot, the spaces between inlaid en suite, the centre on both sides set with a replacement staghorn roundel engraved respectively with a boar hunting scene in a landscape and the seated figure of Orpheus in a landscape playing his harp before assembled birds and animals, the outer edge with an iron strap carrying the linear engraved nozzle with curved sprung tap, and two rectangular rings for suspension
16 cm. diam.
