With slender tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section stamped 'Claudio Francino' within the narrow double fullers on each side of the forte and struck with an indistinct mark, a sun-in-splendor, on each side of the rectangular ricasso, russet iron hilt of slender rounded bars comprising vertically recurved quillons with flattened elongated finials involving three vertically fluted hoops, arms, two inner and outer rings joined by pairs of curved and S-shaped bars, the lower rings filled by a shaped pierced plate chiselled with foliate scrolls centred on an embossed grotesque mask, the upper rings each joined by a curved bar to the knuckle-guard, the latter with finial matching that of the quillons, heavy faceted pommel with button and horizontal medial roped ring, and original wooden grip and steel wire binding between steel Turk's heads
