Footnotes
John Ball founded his cabinet-making business at Bird Street, London, in 1809, expanding to Oxford Street around 1835. In addition to producing his own furniture, he must also have been selling second hand stock when Forman joined the business in 1855, since a pair of Irish mahogany tea tables circa 1810 with this label is in the Pakenham collection at Tullynally Castle, Ireland.
