A fine and large Satsuma reticulated vase

By Kinkozan and painted by Fuzan, Meiji Period
Of baluster form with short everted neck, the body vividly painted in gilt and coloured enamels and divided into several sections simulating lattice-work, each panel decorated with a different scene including figures visiting a Shinto Shrine, where a Mikosan is standing with a suzu beside a Bugaku drum; travellers pausing for respite at a roadside teahouse, a mother and children picking plants beneath cherry blossoms and peasants at their daily chores; all separated by other kacho-ga of domestic fowl, irises, fans and narcissi floating on water, entwined maple branches and other floral motifs; all beneath a shoulder moulded in relief and pierced with a profusion of asagao and foliage, the base signed Kinkozan zo with impressed seal kinkozan and with seal Fuzan. 31.2cm (12 1/8in) high.
