A tall Satsuma conical vase

By Yabu Meizan, Meiji Period
Finely painted and gilt with an extensive view of Matsushima Island, depicting fishermen's huts and rocky promontories in the foreground, their nets hanging out to dry; other thatched buildings nestled amongst pine trees on the shore; sailing and fishing boats on the lake and mountains rising in the distance, the neck with panels enclosing peonies, cherry-blossoms, wisteria and chrysanthemums beneath a geometric border, signed on a gilt seal Yabu Meizan. 32cm (12½in) high.
