A Satsuma ovoid vase

By Kinkozan, Meiji Period
The body decorated with overlapping panels enclosing different kacho-ga scenes including sparrows in flight among trailing wisteria, the yatsuhashi (eight-plank bridge) over an iris pond, alluding to chapter 9 from the Ise Monogatari and pavilions set on a lake shore, among butterflies and floral roundels reserved on a hanabishi ground, signed Kinkozan. 19.7cm (7¾in) high.
