Meiji Period
The plump cat seated modelled with a knotted collar around its neck and asleep with its long tail curling around to its front, its body painted in enamels and gilt with heart-shaped panels enclosing floral motifs and mon, the silvered-metal cover in the form of a heart pierced with the Tokugawa mon in the form of a sprig of aoi, unsigned. 15.2cm (6in) wide.
