Of rectangular form, opening on three hinges to reveal the upper section of the interior lined in velvet and constructed to display and suspend twelve inro, six on each side, above a single, long drawer to contain other sagemono accessories, lacquered in togidashi with a continuous design of nadeshiko; each drawer applied with a silvered-metal ring handle, the exterior similarly embellished with overlapping shikishi papers enclosing various scenes including famous scenic landmarks in Japan, auspicious motifs associated with the New Year, butterflies and seasonal plants and flowers, all reserved on a rich o-birame ground, with details enhanced in a variety of techniques, the mounts of silvered metal, engraved with karakusa; with wood storage box. 36.2cm x 20.1cm x 53.4cm (14¼in x 8in x 21in).
