The overhanging cover decorated in gold hiramakie with stylised pine, bamboo and plum, the so-called 'Three Friends of Winter', an ensemble motif symbolising longevity and the cultured Gentleman; the interior of rich nashiji with en suite fitted, removable trays for an inkstone, a water-dropper, a spike, a knife and two brushes with nashiji holders, the rims of silver, signed Hobi kore. 4.1cm x 25.2cm x 22.7cm (1 5/8in x 9 7/86in x 9in).
